If you’re still in school, what’s the school name? What’s your major?I am a Junior at South Lakes High School
What’s your story?I started climbing when I was just 7 years old. It all began when I went with my dad to the local climbing gym and I instantly fell in love with the sport. After the first visit, I continued climbing at the gym all the time, and challenging myself in both sport climbing and bouldering. I love the challenge and exhilaration of reaching the top of a climb. I kept improving and a year later I joined the competitive team at my local climbing gym and became the youngest team member. I remember always looking up to the older kids on team, and how they pushed me to train harder and to learn new things like lead climbing.
Eventually I left the climbing team to continue my growth with personalized training, but I’m still competing just as I did when I was 8 years old. Climbing has taken me to many unexpected places, and provided experiences that I would never have gotten in other activities. So after more than 9 years of climbing, I can say without a doubt that I’m still loving this sport just as much as the day I started. It’s difficult to imagine my life without it
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? When I’m not training or doing homework, I love hanging out with my friends, baking and fishing.
What is your favorite aspect of climbing?I love the community.
What’s your most memorable climbing experience? My most memorable experience was competing in my first Youth Worlds Championship which was in Arco, Italy. Not only was it exciting competing on the international level, Arco was a beautiful place.
