Fantastic backpack, soars above and beyond expectations. Perfect size for packing a full day's climbing gear, jackets and lunch. Also perfect for a light and fast day of ski touring in the mountains.
Well-designed, lightweight, and fully functional. Highly recommended, we get asked about this every time we take it out to the mountains.

I bought this bag for the purpose of doing overnight hikes and doubles as a travel bag. The height adheres to most if not all check in luggage size. A comparable top loading pack would be the osprey Exos 48l, however this does come at double the price if not more. The Exos is a well designed bag but didn't suit my needs due to it being much taller than the Star Trek. I am carrying a mindshift horizon 34l for travel currently and it is similar in size when packed down. I can definitely say if you are looking for a lightweight pack for hiking at an affordable price than the Star Trek is definitely a contender. Material is durable, designed well with a traditional design for a pack, enough loops to tie gear outside of the pack and comes with a rain cover. However in comparing the exos, the exos definitely carries the weight better with more breathability in its suspension system. The straps are definitely well padded but not as ventilated as the Exos. For the price, don't believe there would be many packs that would be comparable. Definitely a good buy in my books.

*used the exos as a guide because in oz we are limited to the pack options that we have.
