I have been using the X3 for serval expeditions now and I am really happy with the design. The tent has a smaller “wind Profile” as other brands, yet the inside is spacious, big enough to fit 3 western climbers comfortable. The square shaped ground sheet shape makes is easy to dig platforms in the snow, even when there is limited space. Ventilation is good, also when cooking inside.
Especially I am really impressed by the strength of the poles. The branded 9.5mm DAC poles outperform any other tents I used before. I have had heavy snow loads on this tent, but when you carefully dig the tent out the tent simply pops up again; not one single pole got broken so far. I pitched the tent in hurricane winds on 8000m and when pitched properly the tent seems to withstand any torture.
The fabrics are light, but strong and durable. I have been using the X3 for a couple Himalayan seasons now and for me its one of the best tents I ever used.
